This again, is warning that it is wise to be slow, and the trouble you can get into by going on another’s note. You can lose what you have worked hard to get, because the other fellow does not pay his debts. You can even lose the bed you sleep on to make someone else’s note good.

When you sign another’s note, it is you taking on his debt; because if he does not pay it, you will have to. You have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

This proverb refers to preparing for battle. All our preparation for any task is useless without God. But even with God’s help we still must do our part and prepare. His control of the outcome does not negate our responsibilities. God may want you to produce a great book, but you must learn to write. God may want to use you in foreign missions, but you must learn the language. God will accomplish his purposes, and he will be able to use you if you have done your part by being well prepared.

This Scripture is closely related to (verse 28). This to me, is speaking of those who scorn judgment here will face the Judge of the entire world. The word “prepared” here, to me, indicates that this will happen in the future.

(In Proverbs 10:13b), we were told that “a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding”. Meaning this is a reference to corporal punishment applied to the backside and recommends it as the most effective way of dealing with children and fools.

Fools many times, break laws and are punished for their law breaking. I believe fools will face the eternal Judge and pay for their evil deeds. The only way to avoid that punishment would be for the fool to become wise and accept Jesus as his Savior. Proverbs 19 Continued Quest

This is an absolutely true statement of young men. They are proud that they are strong. Young men will pump iron or exercise to make them even stronger. Paul warns about putting too much emphasis on the bodily exercise.

1 Timothy 4:7-8 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old vives tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8For Physical training is of some value, but godliness (spiritual training) has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

The beautiful grey hair of an old man shows wisdom and experience. For a man to live long enough to have grey hair, God would have to have blessed him.

Compared to the Lord’s wisdom, we have no wisdom. We have no power at all when vented against God. God is the Creator, and we are His created. The Creator is always far superior to His creation in every way. We see this most clearly when we read Job. Beginning in chapter 38 where God is speaking to Job when He asks “where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?” And the conversation ends in chapter 41:34. A reading of these 3 chapters tells us we have very little understanding at all (this is what Job admits in 42:1-6).

Loneliness is everywhere-many people feel cut off and alienated from others.  Being in a crowd just makes people more aware of their isolation.  We all need friends who will stick close, listen, care and offer help when it is needed-in good times and bad.  It is better to have one such friend than dozens of superficial acquaintances.  Instead of wishing you could find a true friend, seek to become one.  There are people who need your friendship.  Ask God to reveal them to you, and then take on the challenge of being a true friend.

This verse does not condone insulting those who are poor; it simply records an unfortunate fact of life.  It is wrong for rich people to treat those who are in need with contempt and arrogance, and God will judge such actions severely.

14:31 He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.

Without intervention the needs of people who are poor will be unmet.  What is your attitude toward those living in poverty? What are you doing to meet their needs?

This proverb highlights several benefits of keeping quiet: (1) It is the best policy if you have nothing worthwhile to say: (2) It allows you the opportunity to listen and learn; (3) It gives you something in common with those who are wiser.  Make sure to pause to think and to listen so that when you do speak, you will have something important to say.

We have seen it many times, and I do believe that it bothers most of us, but we just don’t admit it. Then to top it off that persons receives an award or promotion behind it while the person that did the work sits on the sidelines and is only called on when someone needs their help to fix something they messed up. Isn’t this the way we do God on Christmas? Santa gets all the credit and is the all-knowing while we put God on the sideline because for some reason, we don’t want our Children to know the truth. Something is terribly wrong with that picture. We can take down statues that have been up for years because they represented something bad, but we keep this thing about Santa going every year that puts Gods on the Sidelines until you need Him. Jesus Be Praised!

Santa lives at the North Pole… JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh… JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies… JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited… JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa… JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa comes but once a year… JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa lets you sit on his lap… JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn’t know your name, all he can say is “Hi little boy or girl, what’s your name?”… JESUS knew our name before we were born. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly… JESUS has a heart full of love

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO… JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says “You better not cry”… JESUS says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

Santa’s little helpers make toys… JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but… JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree… JESUS became our gift and died on a tree…the cross.

We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas, Jesus is still the reason for the season.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).Would you like to know Jesus? You can have peace and find hope and know forgiveness through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. Praying is simply talking to God. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. Here’s a suggested prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life to You and ask You to come in as my Saviour and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Bring peace to my world this Christmas. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen

If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, pray it right now and Christ will come into your life as He promised. If you invited Jesus Christ into your life, thank God often that He is in your life, that He will never leave you and that you have eternal life.
